Effective November 1, 2007, the Blossom Fund is neither soliciting nor accepting grant proposals.

Guidelines

The Blossom Fund is a private, independent foundation, which was established in 1994 and supports non-profit 501(c)(3)organizations. The Fund makes grants in the following areas: economic justice for women; girls programs; support for local cultural and educational activities; and programs for youth promoting use of outdoor space, as described in greater detail below.

The Fund supports the community and grassroots efforts of women in the Boston area, Central America, and Mexico including:

The Fund supports programs for youth that increase the use and awareness of Boston area outdoor resources including:

The Blossom Fund does not fund organizations that have access to other, more-traditional funding sources. It does not fund individuals or programs that assist only a few individuals.

Geographic Focus:

All projects: Boston, Brookline and Cambridge. Projects promoting women's economic development may also serve Central America and Mexico.

Types of Support:

Programmatic support, seed/start-up money, and occasional operating support.

Financial Information:

Grant range $2,000-$20,000. Renewable upon reapplication. Preference is given to organizations with small annual budgets.

How to Apply:

Send letter stating proposal along with three copies of material describing the project, three copies of all supporting material (including detailed budgets for both the organization and the specific project for which funding is being requested), and a copy of your organization's IRS Letter of Determination indicating tax-exempt status.

Deadlines for application and subsequent reporting:

September 15 and March 15. (Applications will not be accepted after the deadline unless it falls on a weekend or holiday.) A report on the use of a prior grant is required before a new proposal will be considered.
